John is a strong supporter of the Collaborative Practice, especially for divorces. He believes that for a majority of the divorces, it is possible to have the couple resolve their divorce issues without having to go through the stress and trauma of court motions, hearings, and a trial. Having benefitted from the experience of a "good divorce" herself, Leigh aspires to help collaborative law become the new standard for divorcing couples in Kitsap County. Leigh has received a Volunteer of the Year Award from the King County Bar Association's Family Law Mentor Program. John is a strong supporter of the Collaborative Practice, especially for divorces. Having benefitted from the experience of a "good divorce" herself, Leigh aspires to help collaborative law become the new standard for divorcing couples in Kitsap County. Leigh has received a Volunteer of the Year Award from the King County Bar Association's Family Law Mentor Program. She has completed intensive training in family law, mediation, and collaborative process, and is committed to bringing high-quality interdisciplinary support to divorcing couples. Leigh is the current president of Kitsap Collaborative Law Professionals and also is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and King County Collaborative Law.
Credentials: Leigh graduated from the University of Washington School of Law with honors, Order of the Coif, and was admitted to the Washington Bar in 2000. Early in her career, she served as staff attorney to U.S. District Court Judge William Fremming Nielsen for two years. For several years after her son was born, she turned her focus to pro bono projects and some civil litigation. Before law school, Leigh earned a journalism degree from Northwestern University and worked as a reporter and producer for an NPR affiliate in Ketchikan, Alaska. Leigh recently served as president of the Board of Directors of Madrona School, a Waldorf School on Bainbridge Island.
